I started daycare!
Mommy says I go to school now! Just two half-days. I was supposed to start Tuesday last week, but after I did two one-hour trial runs two weeks ago, I got sick. Then I got everyone in my family sick—Mommy, Daddy, Grandma. So, I skipped all last week and started this Tuesday.
It’s been mostly easy for me to transition. I didn’t cry a lot or throw a fit for being left at the center, and I get to give Grandma a break from having to keep up with me. I like my teachers and I’m making new friends! There is more diversity at school than anywhere I’ve seen in Boulder!
I can communicate!
Well, I could always communicate—by screaming, crying, laughing, etc. But now I’ve started to sign. It clicked in my brain sometime last week, when I started asking for “more.” I can also say “drink” when I want a drink of water/milk, and say “bath” when it’s my bath time! I’ve only used “more” when I wanted more food. But now I can say “more” when I want Mommy and Aunt Jaime to toss me back and forth more in the pool. Or when I want to hear the “Itsy bitsy spider” song again.
Mommy gives credit to Daddy for this, who worked consistently on teaching me some basic signs! Here’s the book he used.
